Bridgette F. and her husband William started on their own at very young age. “I was a secretary at a University in Michigan and he was a laborer. We have been married almost 33 years. We both worked hard. I eventually wound up in the legal industry as a legal assistant. I started my first legal assistant position in 1984 with a prominent law firm in Downtown Detroit. During this period, my husband encountered many injuries due to labor jobs. He is now on Social Security Disability due to numerous back injuries, herniated and ruptured disk injuries. We had two sons, both of whom are adults now. We worked diligently to make sure they were raised to the best of our ability. However, even though my husband and I worked hard, there came a time when my last employer, was beginning to downsize. Finally, in September, 2006, it was my turn and many others to lose their jobs. I have a history of over 25 years as a legal assistant/paralegal. I have been in and out of work and the salary has continued to get lower and lower with no medical. Currently, I have been out of work for over a year. Now, our home is in foreclosure and we are looking for a place to live. We’re not asking for a hand-out, but just a little help. We have lost the home and are in the process of locating low income housing. If there is someone out there who can help us in any way, I don’t know how we would be able to repay you. But I can say that we will send and pray for blessings to continue your way”.
