Virgil P. is a 40 old proud single father of 14 year old Vershawn, who is a freshman in high school. Virgil who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This disease makes it difficult for him to walk. After working for a shipping company for 5 years, Virgil was laid off in June 13th. Prior to working for the shipping company, Virgil worked for the New York Department of Recreation and City Parks for 2 years. " I am currently unemployed and receiving unemployment checks that ended in November. Because of my disease, I am unable to work. I have a pending application with disability to offset my financial problems, and do not know if it will be approved. It is difficult to pay the rent, buy food that will last, pay the medical bills and others. I do not have any family to rely on. It is also a challenge to purchase clothes for a growing teenage son — who really deserves a lot. I do not receive child support. My special wish is to spend a few days at Universal Studios in Florida in the spring of next year because he gets excellent grades!! We would be so thankful for anything you can do to help our future, specially my son’s."
