In June of 2008, after an auto accident, Denise a single parent since 1997, moved with her daughter Brittany now 19 and took a job in Michigan. In December , Denise was laid off. Then Brittany was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. In October 2009, Denise and Brittany moved into her mother’s mobile home. Brittany was now a high school senior, and despite the circumstances, she kept up with her studies. Starting in January 2010, they stayed at a shelter for 3 months. Denise found a small part-time job at a nearby restaurant, and got an apartment. Then, she got a job for the 2010 US Census. She only earned $1400 and has not earned any money since. \"Our cell phones, electricity, etc. were gone. I dropped Brittany off at Bowling Green State University (Digital Arts Major) in August. A few weeks later, I was evicted from my apartment for non-payment. I then continued to look for work, but again with no luck. When Brittany came back for 2011 summer break, we returned to Ohio. I remain unemployed and receive no benefits whatsoever, not even food stamps. Brittany has paid $100 towards her next semester\'s tuition from her small part-time job on campus. The balance remains of $1298, plus the cost of books for the spring semester. Her brother will pay the $224.60 remaining on the Nov. 25th payment, but that still leaves 4 payments of $279.60. She is also in need of toiletries, food and books. If anyone can help Brittany, it would be a big blessing to us all.
They need: $750 tuition assistance; $500 basic needs; $200 job placement assistance for Denise
