Mercedes L. attends Le Cordon Bleu in Atlanta. She graduated on Sept 26, 2011. She needs to find a place to live. " I am trying so hard to get back on my feet. I stay with whoever will let me. Sometimes I sleep in the Car. I eat free at school but the last 6 weeks they haven't fed us. I enjoy waking up and going to school. I made the Dean's list and Honor Roll. I'm trying so hard to better myself, but it is hard when you don't have any help. Mercedes difficulties began in 2007 when she lost everything after fracturing her foot and tearing ligaments in her foot and ankle. But she had to work, which made it worse. Then in 2008 she had to have emergency surgery due to fibroid tumors. "It came to be life or death. I have been depressed every day since the surgery. I have been a foster Mother for 10 year and also helped raise my sister's kids and friends. I worked part-time as a Sub Teacher for Clayton County Schools for 2 yrs. I work for Temp Service when they have Jobs. I tried to work a full time job while in school but my grades dropped. So I stopped that, but now I’m almost finished and I'm looking for a job. I love cooking and working with kids. My dreams are to open a Fish & Seafood Restaurant and A Youth Center for Kids/Performing Music Art School. But I need help now."
They need: $1000 rent assistance; $400 basic necessities
